What a beauty Miss Jones is. I have just bought a half price sewing machine, I don't have a clue how to use it, my Mother doesn't know yet, but I am really hoping she will give me a couple of lessons to get me started. I cannot imagine how you sew with one hand and the other winding!?! It just shows you too, how well made these things were and with TLC they were built to last. Amazing.

Lovely, it looks like posh real yarn! I did not imagine 'The Tour de Fleece' would be quite such a challenge. Spinning everyday sounds like bliss, but I aint finding it easy. I am loving the end products though.

Your crafty workshop afternoon looked like great fun. I needed a change from the 'Unknown' Grey I was spinning, so went for 'Rainbow' Scrap fibres. Your sqishy BFL rolags look like candyfloss. :)

Miranda was probably about a year old when we got her and her sisters, Callie and Caroline, from the Battery Hen Welfare Trust so she must have been about 2 and 3/4s. Unfortunatley being a battery hen is so hard on their little bodies that they just don't live as long as "normal" hens; all the more reason to be very choosey when buying things with eggs in.
We will be having a special day of wooliness on the the 5th of September for Wool Week, I'll post details soon, but we will have Glastonbury Town Hall all day! you are very welcome to join us:-)

I loved this post, I was very sad to read about Miranda though, how old was she? I have my first three hens and think I may need a bit of bereavement counselling when it's their turn to go to the great 'Corn Store' in the sky! I love your photographs and it looks like you have so much fun. I love the notion of a Spinning Gig, if you manage to get a gig at Glastonbury next year please please can I join you :) Good Luck with your Wisdom Teeth and I wish you a speedy recovery. I was hoping to get down to Somerset Guild to have a nose on the 18th but I am at a Creative Spinning Workshop with Alison Daykin in Stratford Upon Avon...If only we could master the art of being in two places at once! lol

Isn't it the most amazing thing so watch plants growing from a dry little seed to a big fruitproducing plants :-) Not sure if my tomatoes will survive this year, I think I had them on the windowsill for too long.
In our little garden we do`n't hava any rhubarb - too much noneatable leaves taking preacious planting space away - but I have bought a few stems to bake my Sweethears favourite cake. It is with meringue on top, so if you'd like to try it, let me know and I'll type you the recipe.

My rhubarb is rubbish, it grows a bit but never really enough to do anything with it and then immediately runs to seed. Yours looks yummy, especially with greek yogurt, my favourite!

It was so lovely to meet you yesterday in the "real" life - and your spindles !!! I am finding that I am spinning more with the portability of spindles, than with my wheels at the moment - personally I blame Brenda who introduced me to these beautiful objects a couple of years ago.
